Forest Bathing - Connecting in Nature

Forest bathing (Shinrin-Yoku) is a Japanese practice that invites you to slow down, engage your senses and fully immerse yourself in the calming atmosphere of the forest. (These sessions do not involve bathing in water!) Studies show that forest bathing can have remarkable restorative benefits associated with reducing stress, boosting immunity, improving mood, supporting attention restoration and enhancing sleep.

Join Sue for a guided group experience designed to give you insight into the joys of exploring local surroundings whilst deepening your connection with nature. The 2-hour session starts and ends at the same point and comprises a series of ‘invitations’ rather than instruction, to enhance your experience.

Sue incorporates what is to be learnt through the ‘more than human world’. This novel approach leverages the calming and inspiring backdrop of the outdoors to help individuals explore their thoughts, feelings and aspirations with the presence of an element of joy, comfort and connection.

Participating in coaching can feel more relaxed and open as clients
engage in activities such as walking or simply sitting and observing their dog in a natural setting.

Clients experience being guided through deeper observation and reflective exercises that encourage curiosity and clarity. This holistic method promotes physical well-being, creates insight into relationships and enhances mental and emotional resilience, making it a unique and effective way to achieve personal breakthroughs.

Your canine companion will be one that is content to be on a lead (extended lead included) and ideally will have completed a 'short outing' before the session. Please bring water/treats as required.

Supervision of Coaching in Nature

image00117.jpeg
image00039.jpeg

Coaching supervision in nature is an innovative approach to professional coaching supervision for coaches. Sessions combine traditional coaching supervision with the restorative and insightful power of the natural environment.

This practice recognizes that being outdoors can enhance reflection, foster deeper connections, and inspire new perspectives for both coaches and their clients. By stepping outside the confines of conventional settings, supervisors and coaches can tap into the rich tapestry of nature as a source of metaphor, learning, and personal growth.

Working with metaphors drawn from nature, such as the resilience of a tree weathering storms or the adaptability of a river carving its path, coaches can explore complex themes and challenges in their practice.

These natural symbols provide a framework for understanding emotional experiences and professional dilemmas, allowing for profound insights and transformative conversations.

Engaging with the elements of nature—be it the sound of rustling leaves, the feel of the earth beneath one’s feet, or the interplay of light and shadow—can inspire mindfulness and creativity during supervision sessions. This immersive experience not only promotes emotional well-being but also encourages a deeper connection to self, others, and the coaching journey.

As the world continues to evolve, coaching supervision in nature offers a fresh approach to professional development, grounding practitioners in the wisdom of the natural world while fostering a supportive environment for growth and reflection.

Walk-About

Walkabout

Walkabout sessions are highly tailored half-day guided experiences in nature, designed to foster time to think and plan ahead.

Participants embark on a journey through natural landscapes, creating space to step away from daily distractions and immerse themselves in the present moment. This experience combines silent walking and thought-provoking prompts alongside conversations with the coach.

The walk-about session incorporates a planning stage at the meeting point or by phone beforehand, to broadly design the discovery experience together. There are unique opportunities to reflect on life-style choices, transition through change, raise situational awareness and to explore approaches to navigating current challenges and future opportunities.

The natural environment serves as both a metaphor and a canvas, encouraging 'looking within', 'looking outside', 'looking between' and alignment with being authentic. Whether focused on decision-making, personal growth or simply reconnecting with nature for re-charging the batteries, the walkabout nurtures clarity, resilience, and renewed purpose.
